The beginning of preschool

 

In 1906 Dr. Montessori introduced to the world the AMI or Montessori International children's education system in 1944 was fully entrusted to the Catholic sect of the Sisters of the Good Shepherd to spread throughout Sri Lanka. In the last 73 years, the Good Shepherd Sisters quietly took the initiative to study Sri Lankan education and produced thousands of teachers who studied Sri Lankan education. In the year 1935, Mrs. Dr. Montessori founded the AMI headquarters in Amsterdam, Netherlands, the headquarters of the Montessori International Association, and the only Sri Lankan pre-school education course and institution affiliated to the AMI headquarters in Sri Lanka is the Good Shepherd Maria Montessori Training Center.
