Sitar


 The sitar is best known as the queen of Indian musical instruments. When we talk about the creator of the sitar, we remember the great Indian musician Amir Kushrah. He improved the Veena, a musical instrument that existed in India. This musical instrument was invented around the 14th century and is called Sitar in the Persian language. The Persian language has three strings, which means that the original sitar had only three strings.


The current sitar has seven strings. Similarly, there are three types of sitars in the future.

It is called the common sitar

the middle sitar

the best sitar

and the sitar is played with a string instrument called the mishrab. This instrument

Also, two types of instruments can be identified in which the sitar is played.

The two types are the rasakhani khani

the masit khani. Among the most talented people in playing the sitar, Pandit Ravi Shankar, Ustad Vilayankhan and Nikal Banerjee can be identified as the most important people among them.

Nadagam tradition

 Nadagama, a type of local folk drama that originated in Sri Lanka in the 19th century under South Indian influence, is a blend of song, dance and acting. It was popularized by the Dravidian musician Alaganaidu and the contribution of Philip Singho, and is considered the first drama tradition in the history of Sinhala drama. Origin : Inspired by South Indian street drama in the early 19th century. Leaders : Philip Singho (wrote 13 Nadagama such as Ehelepola Nadagama and Sulambavathi). Stage : Usually performed on a circular or square stage at ground level. Music and style : Storytelling, singing songs with royal/diplomatic themes and divine stories as the background. Sanath Nandasiri

 He is described by critics as the "influencer" of the Sri Lankan music industry, who "brought life to traditional music" in the country. As a musician, vocalist, music director and lyricist, he is an artist who has won the hearts of fans in the country. Personal information Born on February 15, 1942 in Gothatuwa, Sanath Nandasiri was educated at Gothatuwa Central College and St. Matthew's College. Sanath Nandasiri studied music initially under Wilfred Peiris and later studied classical music under Hemathilaka Dayaratne. He studied tabla playing under Mahesh Sinniya and instrumentalist D. R. Peiris. He joined the National Radio in 1955. He then went to India in 1960 to enter the Bhatkhanda Sangeet Vidya Peeth in Lucknow, where he studied under the excellent teachers there and returned to Sri Lanka in 1966, receiving two master's degrees in singing and tabla playing.
